What is the best way to share a printer and files between computers on my home network?

Myriam Hetjonk: Setup a network and enable printer sharing. Both computers should have same work group name. disable any anti-virus or firewall on both the pcs and then try to connect them.follow the steps mentioned in this MS page:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-ca/library/bb72703...You may also have to install this update on your Windows XP desktop to let it understand windows vista networking protocols:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?fa......Show more

Kaylee Schmittou: You can setup up sharing as suggested. The instructions are a little different depending on if you use XP or Vista so its best to go to Start, Help and then search Share Printer and Share Files for each version. However you will be using MS Networks that comes with Windows and that is buggy. some days it works great other days not at all. You get more reliable sharing with a third party program like Network Magic from www.purenetworks.com.

Luis Farlow: permit me wager wat may b! e accomplished i'm no expert in this yet Can u ping the different workstation in community.... Can u see each and every of the computers on ur community... are those computers assigned to a particular artwork group i propose u assign them a diff workgroup call... all at the same time....(any call u like) Then proportion the printer and notice if this works....
